  • Picking the right tint shade can make a big difference in heat insulation, visibility, privacy, and style. Whether you're tinting for looks, comfort, or privacy, it helps to understand how tint percentages work and what options are out there.

    What Does VLT Mean?

VLT stands for Visible Light Transmission—the % of light that passes through the tint. Lower numbers mean darker film:

    Common Tint Shades

    • 5% (Limo Tint): Very dark. Max privacy. Tougher to see out of at night. Offers excellent heat insulation (Panaflex & Nanoflex only).
    • 20%: Popular rear window shade. Sleek and private.
    • 35%: A balanced look—darker, but still easy to see through.
    • 50%: Light shade that cuts glare and some heat, with minimal darkening.
    • 70%: Barely tinted, but still blocks UV. Offers moderate heat insulation (Panaflex & Nanoflex only).

    Things to Keep in Mind

    • Laws: Check local tint laws, especially for front windows.
    • Purpose: Are you tinting for privacy, heat insulation, UV, or looks?
    • Visibility: Darker shades can reduce visibility at night.
    • Style: Pick a shade that matches your vehicle or factory tint.
    • Climate: Darker film helps more in hot areas. Lighter film may be enough in cooler spots.

Choosing a tint shade comes down to what you need and what fits your style. There's no one-size-fits-all, but knowing the basics makes it easier to get the right match.
